Have you ever had the perfect pair of jeans? A pair that fits perfectly. Not too loose, not too snug. A pair that flatters you in every way, from flattering your FUPA to making the booty look just right. You know what I mean, the perfect pair of jeans.
Have I ever had the perfect pair jeans? No, sadly.
Over time, I've found jeans that fit pretty well, just not perfectly. My issue has always been that the jeans fit well in the thigh, hip, and butt area but fit too loose in the waist area, thus creating the infamous yet dreaded butt gap.
Being a curvy girl, my waist is smaller than my behind and no I’m not complaining by any means but being a curvy girl comes with its own set of issues from time to time.
Now a solution to this could simply be to put on a belt, which I’m not totally opposed to. However, I don’t really like belts. Call me crazy but I love to wear belts for fashion. I like thin cute belts that come in a variety of colors that accentuate the outfit or add to the outfit.
I can do those all day, but I don’t like to wear belts as a means to actually keep my jeans up. I would prefer to wear a pair of jeans that fit well and just use the belt to accessorize.
My experience with belts - I'm never 100% comfortable in them.
I take that back. I’m the most comfortable when I’m standing. I work in marketing/advertising full time so for eight hours a day I sit on my behind in front of a computer screen. I don’t like the feeling of the belt when I’m sitting. I don’t like feeling the belt working overtime, and pulling the loops of the jeans while I’m sitting. Additionally, sometimes the belt buckle digs into my belly and I just can't with that. That’s why I need the perfect pair of jeans.
I’ve looked into jeans from different plus size brands and have read reviews. I bought jeans from a few places including Torrid, Fashion Nova, Levi's, Ashley Stewart, and Walmart. Most of these jeans gave me a pretty good fit, and a less noticeable butt gap.
To date, Torrid is my favorite place to shop for jeans. They're comfy and have just the right amount of stretch. My butt gap in minimal in these jeans.
I own a pair of their jeggings (my absolute fave), skinny jeans, bootcut jeans, and high waist jeans. They have a few other jean styles on my list to try as well.
I also plan to continue to shop around for the perfect pair of jeans. There's a list of plus size brands that I still haven't tried so fingers crossed that I find what I'm looking for.
So now I’m on a mission to find stretchy jeans. I’ve come across a boutique called Swank a Posh and they’re really big on stretchy jeans. I do have a pair and they do stretch. They didn't give me a butt gap either so yay, and the pair I own are skinny jeans and actually sit higher on the waist in the front than in the back.
I believe the fact that the jeans sit lower in the back help prevent the butt gap, which works for me. They have a lot of cute jean styles and colors on their site. I plan to try some of their stretchy bootcut jeans next.
I love a good pair of jeans. They're the perfect item to wear year round. I own quality jeans but I'm currently looking for some with a little better fit. Let me know where you found your perfect pair of jeans in the comments below.
